About The Role
We are currently seeking a Technician in Electrical and/or Plumbing to join our Construction and Building Services department at The Bedford College Group. As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Health & Safety Oversight β Ensure the safety of staff, students, equipment, and hazardous materials in workshop environments, including proper storage and COSHH compliance.
- Practical Support β Assist students with hands-on tasks in plumbing and electrical workshops, supporting the assessment process and demonstrating equipment use.
- Lesson Preparation β Prepare resources and equipment for lessons under tutor guidance, and help develop risk assessments for workshop activities.
- Maintenance & Inventory β Service and maintain departmental equipment, manage chemical records, and maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment.
- Operational Flexibility β Support departmental resource needs, process material orders, and perform additional duties as required by the College.
About You
- Qualifications & IT Skills β Level 3 qualification in a science subject and strong IT skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
- Professional Development β Willingness to undertake first aid training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- Knowledge & Research β Ability to conduct online research, interpret manuals, and maintain accurate records, with solid understanding of COSHH.
- Skills & Attributes β Strong teamwork, communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and accurately.
- Additional Requirements β A driving license is desirable for minibus use, though not essential.
