What’s the role all about:
- Responsibility for end-to-end accounting support for facilities management and construction projects at HM Naval Base Portsmouth.
- Ownership of all project financial transactions including cost allocations, timesheet recording & accruals/prepayments.
- Provision of timely, accurate & insightful project reporting to internal & external stakeholders.
- Lead the revenue cycle, from initial revenue recognition through to customer billing, credit control and collection.
- Preparation of accurate forecasts, revising project estimate-at-completion as appropriate.
- Maintain reporting structure for work orders and new project set-up, including adhering to local project governance.
- Deputise for Finance Manager as appropriate.
Your key experience will be:
- Previous experience of project accounting, proficiency in practical application of IFRS 15.
- Prior employment within the Defence sector or construction services is desirable.
- Preparing management accounting transactions for a complex organisation.
- Demonstrable experience explaining financial results to non-specialists.
- Must be highly IT literate; proficient in MS Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
- Familiarity with SAP B1 or experience in other complex ERP systems.
- Exposure to statutory reporting process, including provision of information to auditors.
Your key competencies will be:
- Ability to support management decision making with actionable commercial insight.
- Analytical mindset, able to simplify complex information for non-specialists.
- Highly organised and comfortable working in strong control environment.
