As Care Assistants within the Complex Care service, you will be asked to work as part of a team to empower the people we support who have severe autism and learning disabilities. Our goal is to help them take control of their lives and seek opportunities to achieve their full potential as individuals within society.

You will promote social inclusion and provide opportunities for our service users to access various community settings. Support service users by encouraging their living skills in their own homes in a person-centred way that promotes social inclusion principles.

You will assist with daily life skills, personal care, housework, shopping, cooking, attending appointments, administering medication, and maintaining records in support plans. Additionally, you will work as part of a team to help manage anxieties and distress, ensuring safety.

Supporting regular contact with family and friends, social events, activities, colleges, work opportunities, and holidays.

You will be part of a team providing 24-hour support to people in their own homes, including single tenancies, group homes, and core and cluster services. The role involves shift work, including days, sleepovers, and night shifts, in accordance with the National Care Standards.

Our service users are active, so expect to engage in activities like walking and swimming. When they become distressed, safe physical intervention (CALM) training may be required.

Before confirming appointment, you will need to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme. You must have or be willing to achieve, within the first registration period, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 SVQ2 or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements. You are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of starting employment and complete the necessary Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) during the registration period.
