Due to an increase in workload, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their structures team in Kent. The successful candidate will have opportunities to help develop and grow the structural business in Southern UK. The ideal candidate will have previous experience liaising and leading members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets clients' requirements. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.
Responsibilities
- Technical lead on projects large and small.
- Liaise with and lead other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients' objectives.
- Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer.
- Ensure that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports including structural surveys.
- Training and coordinating junior members of the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years experience working on a variety of projects, commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.
- Varied experience in all the common forms of construction and building types.
- Experience in the use of Eurocodes.
- Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required.
- Experience of structural analysis design and software essential.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
