One of our large pharmaceutical clients is actively hiring for a Digital Automation Engineer to join their project team. The goal of this project is to implement a new integrated automation platform, transitioning manual processes to automated ones. The role involves integrating experimental data generated on these platforms into the client’s system, linking to LIMS, and publishing to corporate databases. Please note, this role is for a 12-month contract (Inside IR35) and requires 5 days onsite initially at the company site in Stevenage.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement digital automation solutions within Research Technologies, aligning with the client’s broader digital transformation goals.
  • Coordinate the planning, design, development, and deployment of digital solutions that improve research workflows, data management, and experimental processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of digital automation solutions, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Deliver robust, annotated data to AIML Predictive Science colleagues for analysis.
  • Provide training and support to research teams on the use of new digital tools and automated systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a relevant scientific subject area; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in digital automation, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs), and commercial digital orchestration software.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Strong understanding of automation technologies, including robotics, AI, machine learning, and data analytics.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, C#, or Java.
