Our PCV Drivers are responsible for providing a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to offering safe home-to-school transport, you may operate passenger lifts and assist the Passenger Assistant as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Report any fines or tickets to the office promptly.
- Conduct mandatory vehicle checks before each use, reporting any defects.
- Secure all passengers and wheelchair users correctly using appropriate safety equipment.
- Ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel for journeys and refuel as instructed.
- Keep the vehicle clean inside and out regularly, at least weekly.
- Remove and replace seating as required.
- Park the vehicle correctly in the depot, preferably in pre-allocated bays.
- Operate passenger lifts and other equipment safely.
- Communicate patiently and informatively with passengers and clients.
- Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
- Understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
- Patience and a level-headed attitude to service delivery.
- Full unrestricted D driving license (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Valid CPC qualification, with up-to-date mandatory training.
- At least two years of bus or coach driving experience.
- Willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver's card.
- Willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Current and valid D4 medical examination report.
