We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer to work on production projects on behalf of a manufacturing client based in Surrey. The role will form part of a new team with responsibility for technical aspects of the build that fall outside the production engineering (PE) team remit. The team will typically be involved with resolution of mechanical, electrical and electronic issues. The role will be hands-on with the mechanical aspects of daily production, resolving issues and working with the PE and development teams amending and implementing design changes to improve production and product reliability. The role will also have a project element, with involvement in specialist, one-off designs and builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development and delivery of solutions to manufacturing and assembly issues as they occur.
- Work on development of JIGs, fixtures and assembly techniques and demonstrate cost savings in the build.
- Design and delivery of innovative design solutions for electro-mechanical assemblies and instruments.
- Participation in specialist project activity and custom builds.
- Skilled in identifying simple but effective solutions which lead to strong design for manufacture.
- Used to working under pressure, meeting all deadlines including design and budget expectations.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
