The Principal Engineer interacts closely with the discipline lead and undertakes responsibilities and workloads concerning various analysis scopes of work. This ranges from project assignments to tenders and studies. The Principal Engineer works with the Project Technical Manager / Tender Lead, for whom the analysis work scope will be carried out. Considering the proficiency, efficiency, and leadership expected of Principal Engineers, they are expected to maintain several assignments simultaneously.

  • Work with lead/manager regarding deliverables/work scope and meet agreed objectives.
  • Depending on the assignment, you may be deemed the best person available to lead and execute a particular work scope. This includes evaluating forecast target deliverable dates, setting breakdown goals, and establishing clear deliverables with the responsible team, ensuring all interfaces are managed with internal or external parties.
  • Conduct independent analysis related to flexible and riser installations, including setting up analysis basis, calculating, and issuing reports within deadlines.
  • Manage and incorporate changes in data, methods, vessels, etc.
  • Import and review installation vessel RAOs and hydrodynamic/load case data.
  • Perform hydrodynamic installation analysis for subsea products (e.g., pipelines, flexible products, subsea structures, spools) for tenders and projects, supporting ongoing offshore operations. This includes lift, lowering, lay, hook-up, and tie-in activities.
  • Work as a project team member and proactively contribute to other disciplines through effective communication.
  • Enhance analysis capabilities and interfaces between installation and analysis engineering disciplines.
  • Deliver all work in line with the Business Management System, ensuring quality and timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review candidates for hire and provide input or recommendations to the discipline.
  • Be available to travel to other offices or offshore, sometimes on short notice.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities, motivation, communication skills, and engagement to complete complex jobs.
  • Support, guide, and mentor team members to achieve targets.
