We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Support Engineer to work alongside our Production Manager in an injection moulding environment. This role is key to ensuring the technical excellence of our production operations, providing critical support across tooling, materials, machine maintenance, and process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process & Production Support
    • Troubleshoot production issues in real-time to ensure uptime and reduce waste.
    • Optimise machine settings for cycle time, product quality, and efficiency.
    • Support production teams with technical expertise across shifts as needed.
  • Tooling & Maintenance
    • Lead tool changes, start-ups, and setup validation processes.
    • Coordinate and implement Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) programmes for tools and machinery.
    • Investigate and resolve tooling-related defects and process inefficiencies.
  • Automation & Robotics
    • Set up, program, and troubleshoot pick-and-place robots.
    • Maintain and optimise end-of-arm tooling for efficient handling and safety.
    • Ensure seamless integration between automation systems and production cycles.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Cobots beneficial but not essential.
  • Materials & Sampling
    • Conduct material trials and recommend optimal polymers based on performance and cost.
    • Evaluate colour changes, additives, and material compatibility during setup.
  • Training & Documentation
    • Assist in training setters, operators, and apprentices on process best practices.
    • Create and maintain SOPs, setup sheets, and technical documentation.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement
    • Support quality investigations, non-conformance analysis, and root cause resolution.
    • Work closely with Quality and Production to improve process capability and reduce defect rates.
    • Participate in internal audits, CAPA projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in injection moulding operations.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve process, tooling, and automation issues.
  • Familiarity with technical polymers including glass-filled and flame-retardant grades.
  • Experience with robot integration and automation systems within moulding environments.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting 2D/3D technical drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of ISO quality systems.
