About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Facade Designer to join our specialist team in Nottinghamshire. This hybrid role offers a balance between office-based collaboration and remote flexibility. You will lead the design and development of complex facade solutions—particularly focusing on glazing and aluminium curtain wall systems—across a range of commercial and residential projects in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver facade design packages from concept through to construction.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, elevations, sections, and schedules using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure design intent is met.
- Oversee system detailing, thermal and structural analysis, and compliance with relevant building regulations and facade standards.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior designers.
- Conduct site visits and support project delivery during installation phases.
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers on system capabilities and performance.
- Ensure documentation and design output meets QA standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in facade design, particularly with glazing and aluminium curtain walling systems.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit or Rhino knowledge is a plus.
- Solid understanding of facade performance criteria: structural, thermal, acoustic, and weatherproofing.
- Excellent knowledge of UK building regulations, CWCT guidelines, and relevant standards.
- Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
Desirable:
- Chartership or working towards membership with the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE), IStructE, or similar.
- Experience with parametric modelling or digital facade tools (e.g., Grasshopper, Dynamo).
- Knowledge of sustainability in facade systems, including embodied carbon and passive design.
