I am working closely with a Main Contractor based in East London, who are looking for an experienced Design Manager to take ownership of exciting residential and student accommodation schemes across London and the South East.

The Role
As Design Manager, you\’ll play a key role in coordinating the design process across multiple stakeholders – ensuring design intent, cost, and buildability align at every stage.
Your day-to-day will include:
Managing design from pre-construction through to handover
Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
Leading design meetings and workshops
Driving value engineering and buildability reviews
Ensuring compliance with planning, technical, and sustainability standards
Supporting tender and procurement processes
About You
You\’ll be an experienced Design Manager (or Senior Design Coordinator ready for a step up) with a background in multi-unit residential or student accommodation projects.
Ideally, you\’ll have:
Experience working with main contractors or design & build firms
A solid understanding of modern construction methods
Strong coordination and communication skills
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
