Learning Support Assistant – SEN School in Portsmouth – ASAP start!!! Academics are recruiting on behalf of a consistently ‘Outstanding’ SEN School in Portsmouth which caters for pupils aged 3-19 years. All pupils attending the school have profound or severe learning difficulties alongside a diverse range of diagnoses and needs, including Autism and highly complex medical conditions. They are looking for empathetic, patient and kind Learning Support Assistant’s to join them ASAP on a temp to perm contract. You will joining a dedicated team of Special Educational Needs Teachers and Learning Support Assistant’s to support pupils in their learning and development in all aspects of life, as well as supporting their medical needs. The suitable Learning Support Assistant will need to be flexible, energetic, resilient and committed to working with children, who need high levels of support in order to learn. You will be required to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. Due to the nature of the setting, you may be required to carry out feeding and personal hygiene duties. A knowledge of using resources such as PECS and Makaton would be an advantage, but not essential. All training and on-going CPD will be provided. The working hours are 8.30am – 3.30pm.
