In this role, you will implement, oversee, and adapt policies and programs to improve the organization's environmental and safety performance, ensuring compliance with current and future regulations and standards, both internal and external. You will ensure the implementation of MPM Standards to the Abingdon and Didcot Facilities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage environmental, health and safety (EHS) activities to ensure compliance with external EHS regulations and standards as well as internal environmental policies and EHS management systems. Activities may include: monitoring environmental performance and identifying risks or areas for improvement; conducting safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices, or working conditions; investigating environmental or safety incidents; preparing reports and recommendations; implementing waste management programs; developing and delivering EHS training programs; managing relationships with community or environmental stakeholders.
- Conduct risk assessments where required and assist other members of the Site team in developing appropriate risk assessments.
- Work as the ISO management system representative for Environmental & H&S.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet established EHS targets (e.g., reducing accidents and injury, minimizing emissions, recycling waste).
- Align Abingdon and Didcot EHS standards with Momentive corporate standards. Assist with gap analysis, standards revisions as necessary, training, and implementation.
- Monitor and evaluate the organization's overall EHS performance to identify recurring problems; research, evaluate, and recommend changes to technology, equipment, systems, or processes that will improve the organization's EHS performance.
- Provide technical expertise and advice on EHS issues to functional or operational area managers to help them manage their EHS responsibilities.
- Maintain positive relationships with the local community, environmental groups, or other stakeholders impacted by or interested in the environmental and safety performance of the organization.
- Keep up-to-date with proposed and actual changes in environmental regulations to ensure the organization's EHS policies remain current and relevant.
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a culture to ensure the organization's EHS strategy is implemented.
- Participate in regional best practice sharing with other site EHS leaders.
The following are required for the role:
- At least 3 years of EHS experience at a Management Level in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in ISO 45001/18001 & 14001.
- NEBOSH & Professional Body Membership.
- Good communication, written, and interpersonal skills to work at all levels in the organization.
- Experience in a Regulated Manufacturing Environment, e.g., Chemical, Radiation, or Manufacturing with Controlled Environments.
- COMAH Experience.
- Working experience in Project Management.
