Hours: 30 – 37.5 hours per week (0.8-1.0 FTE)

Days: 5 days per week, including Tuesdays and Sundays

Contract: Permanent

Salary:
£30,780 – £32,950 per annum, pro rata based on full-time hours of 37.5 per week. Monthly salary based on 37.50 hours at £31,860 (mid-range) is £2,655 before deductions

Summary / Overview of role:

The post holder will be responsible for pastorally leading and organising Trent Youth events and activities, alongside the Senior Ministry Pastor, and to help lead the Trent Youth Team. You must have a passion for youth ministry, strong leadership skills, and a heart for guiding young people in their faith journey. The ideal candidate will be a gifted communicator and have experience of leading and pastoring both young people and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and vision:

  • To develop and implement a vision for the youth ministry that aligns with Trent Vineyard’s vision and values.
  • Alongside the Senior Ministry Pastor, to help lead the Trent Youth core team.
  • To identify, recruit, train and develop members of the Youth team that love Jesus and young people.

Ministry Development:

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, commitment, and spiritual growth within the youth ministry.
  • To continue to build the youth ministry around team and volunteers.
  • To provide practical, administrative and pastoral support to all youth ministry areas.
  • To attend, support and lead Trent Youth Sundays and Tuesdays.
  • To mobilise and support the Trent Youth volunteer team.
  • To take oversight of some volunteers who give time during the week.

Discipleship:

  • Build meaningful relationships with young people and the youth team, facilitating their mentorship and discipleship.
  • Encourage and equip young people to develop and take on leadership roles within the ministry and the church.
  • Lead by example in personal spiritual growth and encourage both the young people and youth team to cultivate their relationship with God through prayer, worship and service.

Management and administration:

  • To support the administration and organisation of youth small groups.
  • Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Senior Ministry Pastor.
  • To coordinate Trent Youth residential trips, particularly DTI.
  • As a member of the Leadership Team, you will undertake occasional and various responsibilities as the need arises (e.g. speaking engagements, event organisation, ad hoc projects) in accordance with the serving expectations that come with this role.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and events relevant to a member of the Leadership Team and wider Staff Team. (e.g. staff meetings, Leadership Team and Pastoral Group meetings, Leaders’ meetings and regular annual events)

Community Engagement:

  • Engage with the young people, their parents and your line manager to understand needs within Trent Youth and the wider church.
  • Engage with other youth pastors across the city to build healthy relationships with other churches.
  • As a youth pastor within the vineyard movement, build relationships with the DTI team and other vineyard youth pastors.
  • Stay relatively current with youth trends, and the challenges of youth culture.

Experience:

  • Managing a team, preferably within a church setting
  • A strong understanding of the principles of working with and raising up leaders from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds – where possible, the candidate will have life and work experience with and around a range of culturalbackgrounds
  • Up to date understanding of safeguarding proceduresand GDPR requirements
  • Some working knowledge of budgets and budgetary control
  • Pioneering projects and initiatives involving substantial resources and large numbers of people
  • Galvanizingpeople around new projects and ideas

Qualifications

  • Theology qualification (desired)
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Applications, internet, databases

Other requirements:

  • Loyal to the Senior Pastor, Senior Leadership Team, Trent Vineyard and the Vineyard Churches movement
  • Committed to and demonstrate knowledge of the vision, values, beliefs and ethos of Trent Vineyard
  • Attend Trent Vineyard as an active member of church
  • Willing to submit a DBS Check
  • Able to work Sundays
  • Willing to work some evenings and weekends to facilitate ministry related events
  • Be a practicing Christian*

You report to: Senior Ministry Pastor (Trent Youth)

Reporting to you: Trent Youth Ministry Staff, Trent Youth volunteers
