Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for challenging and rewarding projects? If the answer is yes, you’ll feel professionally at home at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). These are exciting times in Greater Manchester and we are recruiting a Building Surveyor to join our Facilities Management Services team at TfGM!
Your Role
You will manage the delivery of projects and building surveying objectives to time, budget and quality standards within the Facilities Management function, ensuring the smooth integration of new and refurbished facilities and projects into operational use. It will be your responsibility to Project Manage and maintain the administration from pre-tender design to post project completion and ensuring maintenance requirements and strategies are embedded in the process. Undertaking building surveys for various purposes including producing schedules of dilapidation, condition surveys, defect diagnosis, technical due diligence, planned maintenance, statutory compliance, alterations and providing building work cost estimates as required. Writing technical reports following the surveys. This is a hybrid role where you will be expected to work in the office 2 days per week.

TfGM owns, manages and operates some of the most significant buildings and structures in Greater Manchester. Our Facilities Management team covers everything from day-to-day maintenance to the delivery of refurbishment and new build projects. At the moment we are investing in improving our properties and transportation infrastructure through refurbishments, and several exciting new-build projects. The breadth of work you’ll get involved in as a Building Surveyor in TfGM is quite extensive.

Ideal candidates
Ideal candidates will be educated to degree level in Building Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline and Membership of a recognised built environment professional body such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). You will have extensive knowledge of construction, project and property requirements gained within a mixture of private and public sector experiences showing development through involvement in a series of progressively demanding roles. Experience of leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects and carrying out building surveys for various purposes is required for this role.

This is a fixed term role for 2 years with a salary of £47,539 - £52,866 per annum depending on skills and experience.
