At Arc School Old Arley (near Nuneaton), our approach to curriculum development and teaching is team-based and rooted in personal development. We do this to enable pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs to develop both an academic and holistic understanding of the world.

We are looking for a passionate and resilient qualified teacher with a strong background in supporting children with SEMH needs. You will be teaching year 7 and 8 pupils who are functioning predominantly at primary level. You will therefore be highly experienced in incorporating primary level resources and materials to teach and reinforce foundational skills to an older cohort.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of children and young people with SEMH and associated conditions.
  • Create a nurturing and structured learning environment that promotes emotional well-being, personal development and academic progress.
  • Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting strategies to support individual development.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and ongoing professional development.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Proven experience working with children with SEMH needs – essential.
  • A qualification in SEND education – desirable.
  • Experience with ASC and other associated needs.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly KS2.
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to inclusive education.
