Astral Legal have partnered with a global Insurance company as they are recruiting a Senior Data Protection/Privacy Manager to work with the Global Head of Privacy. This is a newly developed role ensuring the organisation's compliance with data protection laws and safeguards for data subject privacy rights. This is a global role and you will need to work across a variety of jurisdictions ensuring data protection laws are kept up to date.

Duties of the Senior Privacy/Data Protection Manager:

  • Working with the Group Head of Privacy you will be involved in all aspects of data protection work including maturing the current privacy programme.
  • Management of touchpoints to third parties, in particular the privacy due diligence that should be applied to assessment of external relationships.
  • Transfer impact assessments.
  • International data transfer needs.
  • Supporting audits of critical third parties on an annual basis, as well as support for audits that we are subject to from our customers and key suppliers.
  • Data security breaches.
  • Working with Cyber Security.
  • Partner with the Global Head of Privacy for the implementation and roll out of privacy awareness campaigns.
  • Devise and execute a plan for the successful communication of privacy matters across the business, to raise the awareness of data protection and key policy considerations.
  • Create, review and maintain key guides related to data protection functions for the benefit of the first line business, as well as create guides for the Privacy Team.
  • Keep up to date with privacy developments and regulations in all jurisdictions.
  • Assist the Global Head of Privacy from time to time with output reviews, providing advice and support on multi-jurisdictional DPIAs, LIAs, RoPAs and DSARs.
  • Embed a privacy culture and raise awareness across the business through the continuous reinforcement of privacy by design and by default.
  • Working with senior stakeholders and training throughout the business.

The ideal Senior Privacy/Data Protection Manager will be:

  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience, preferably in a global or regional privacy environment, within insurance or financial services, in privacy or privacy project management roles.
  • Educated to degree level and with at least one recognised privacy qualification, such as the IAPP and CIPx certifications.
  • Experience of embedding privacy strategy and privacy culture into business operations.
