A London based public sector organisation is currently recruiting for a Portfolio Benefits Realisation Lead on a permanent basis. This is an exciting role within their change pillar who operate in a dynamic and rewarding environment. You would play a crucial role in ensuring that the anticipated benefits from their change portfolio are effectively identified, managed, and delivered. They offer a very generous hybrid working model with a minimum attendance of 1 day per week. In addition to their 28 days annual leave (+BH), you will receive a civil service pension (27.9% employer contribution) and annual salary increases.
Key Responsibilities
- Benefits Management & Strategic Oversight
- Oversee the benefits realisation process for national and London portfolios and programmes.
- Establish and maintain an effective benefits management framework, enabling clear monitoring and successful delivery.
- Ensure alignment of portfolio benefits with key enablers and senior stakeholders across change programmes.
- Provide specialist benefits management expertise to the Executive and the wider national network.
- Centre of Excellence & Standards Development
- Lead the development and application of portfolio standards, including benefits realisation planning, post-implementation reviews, and benefits tracking.
- Develop tools, templates, and guidance for benefits management at project, programme, and portfolio levels.
- Own portfolio-level benefits management controls to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Champion best-practice standards in benefits management across the National Change Portfolio.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Provide coaching and guidance to project and programme teams, ensuring adherence to benefits management standards.
- Facilitate workshops and upskilling sessions for internal teams.
- Manage relationships with senior leaders, suppliers, and contractors, ensuring value for money and high-quality outcomes.
- Resolve and escalate risks, issues, and conflicts as necessary within a complex change portfolio.
- Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate closely with the Portfolio Planning and Resourcing Lead and the Portfolio Reporting and RAID Lead during periods of high demand.
- Ensure the integration of benefits management processes across the portfolio, programmes, and projects.

- Proven senior management experience within a complex change portfolio.
- Strong ability to influence and negotiate with director-level stakeholders.
- Experience in leading teams, fostering collaboration, and driving capability growth.
- Ability to develop organisational capability in benefits management, ensuring high standards across programmes.
- Demonstrated expertise in benefits realisation, including mapping, profiling, and tracking across a portfolio of change.
- Experience in programme and project management methodologies such as MSP and PRINCE2.
- Experience in managing suppliers and contractors, ensuring quality assurance and cost-effectiveness.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of balancing conflicting viewpoints and fostering consensus.
- Knowledge of data-driven decision-making and ability to provide effective challenge to programme delivery teams.
