Role: Facilities and Compliance Manager
Responsible to: Chief Officer
Working hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £34,000 pa
Package includes 25 days annual leave plus 12 statutory days.
The Northern Ireland Boys Brigade (BBNI) works with 11,350 boys and young men aged 4-18 through 243 BB companies in Northern Ireland and Donegal. Our vision is to raise generations of Christ-like men and the object of Boys Brigade is the advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of obedience, reverence, discipline, self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.
We seek to recruit someone with the relevant skills to manage the property and to ensure the smooth running of accommodation and event space. This will include managing the day-to-day operation of the buildings, working with relevant contractors and ensuring that all compliance and health and safety standards are met. The role will also involve working with the Chief Officer on the development of the facilities.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining and overseeing the facility and equipment
- Develop and implement a planned preventative maintenance programme
- Line management of caretaker
- Identifying and managing relationships with contractors e.g. landscape, cleaning, alarms etc
- Manage all building inspections and assessments and maintain compliance to all regulatory standards
- Ensuring safety and security of the premises
- Managing building maintenance
- Co-ordinating any refurbishment work
- Managing the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
- Handle insurance plans and service contracts
- Alarm call outs (shared with caretaker)
- Monitor and manage budgets
- Co-ordinate the use of the centre by internal and external groups
- Authorising bookings
- Overseeing booking requirements and ensuring appropriate arrangements are made for guests using the centre
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accommodation including maintenance and housekeeping
- Overseeing BBNI centre usage requirements and ensuring appropriate arrangements are made for training, meeting and event set ups
- Monitoring the use of centre space and working with the Chief Officer on the development of the centre
Compliance
- Manage the development and application of the organisations policy and procedures in relation to insurance, health and safety, GDPR etc
- Developing new policies for implementation at both headquarter level and company level
- Ensuring staff team is adequately trained in all relevant aspects of health and safety
- Undertake regular assessment to identify risk and implement appropriate mitigations
- Keeping abreast of regulatory developments within and evolving best practices in compliance control
- Provide support and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation
- Ensure that hazards are identified and the suitable and sufficient risk assessments are completed to reduce or eliminate risk
- Work with the Risk Group to identify and manage risk
General
- Ensure that an up-to-date knowledge is maintained related to the role and training is attended as and when required
- Ensure compliance in all activities in accordance with the Company’s Equal Opportunities Policy
- Conduct all activities with confidentiality and in accordance with the requirements of Data Protection Legislation and BBNI Policies and Procedures
- Be an effective ambassador for The Northern Ireland Boys Brigade
- Undertake any other duties as required, that are within the competence of the post holder and conducive to the effective delivery of the role
- Due to the nature of the role some evening and weekend work may be involved
Required Criteria
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in facilities management or a similar role
- Knowledge of health and safety and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience to conduct and manage risk
- Effective team player and able to work on own initiative
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload
- A proactive and positive approach
- Accuracy in work and high attention to detail
- Sympathetic to the vision, mission and values of The Northern Ireland Boys Brigade
Desired Criteria
