Key Responsibilities

  • To provide focused bioinformatics support to Research teams.
  • Conducting bioinformatics analysis to draw insights from publicly available and experimental data generated by Research teams.
  • Assist in the identification of publicly available genomic and transcriptomic datasets.
  • Process these valuable datasets through proprietary analysis pipelines and align sample metadata to enable harmonisation across multiple studies.
  • Develop apps and other tools which will provide scientists with the ability to easily view and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Involvement in our own in-house sequencing experiments, inclusive of experimental design, quality control and data analysis.
  • Supporting management of analytical data.
  • Maintaining and increasing technical knowledge in relevant fields through self-study, observation, attending relevant conferences and training courses.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all work by completing documentation on time, following Company procedures.
  • Operating in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety policies.

Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Competent coding abilities in R/BioConductor or Python.
  • Familiar with Linux OS and shell scripting bash.
  • Proven programming ability.
  • Presented detailed scientific findings and papers to internal and external audiences.
  • Understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology or related discipline.
  • Must be able to communicate on a technical level with other scientists from unrelated disciplines.
  • Self-motivated; demonstrated success in delivering assigned tasks according to timelines.
  • Ability to think outside the box and problem-solve.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment as part of a motivated team.

Desirable:

  • Background in running NGS or single cell analysis pipelines.
  • Experience in developing R Shiny apps.
  • May have experience of developing databases, using SQL or similar, and pairing with a user-friendly interface.
  • Deep understanding of immunotherapy in oncology.
  • Worked and contributed actively within a diverse team environment.
