Key Responsibilities
- To provide focused bioinformatics support to Research teams.
- Conducting bioinformatics analysis to draw insights from publicly available and experimental data generated by Research teams.
- Assist in the identification of publicly available genomic and transcriptomic datasets.
- Process these valuable datasets through proprietary analysis pipelines and align sample metadata to enable harmonisation across multiple studies.
- Develop apps and other tools which will provide scientists with the ability to easily view and integrate data from multiple sources.
- Involvement in our own in-house sequencing experiments, inclusive of experimental design, quality control and data analysis.
- Supporting management of analytical data.
- Maintaining and increasing technical knowledge in relevant fields through self-study, observation, attending relevant conferences and training courses.
- Maintaining accurate records of all work by completing documentation on time, following Company procedures.
- Operating in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety policies.
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
Essential:
- Competent coding abilities in R/BioConductor or Python.
- Familiar with Linux OS and shell scripting bash.
- Proven programming ability.
- Presented detailed scientific findings and papers to internal and external audiences.
- Understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology or related discipline.
- Must be able to communicate on a technical level with other scientists from unrelated disciplines.
- Self-motivated; demonstrated success in delivering assigned tasks according to timelines.
- Ability to think outside the box and problem-solve.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment as part of a motivated team.
Desirable:
- Background in running NGS or single cell analysis pipelines.
- Experience in developing R Shiny apps.
- May have experience of developing databases, using SQL or similar, and pairing with a user-friendly interface.
- Deep understanding of immunotherapy in oncology.
- Worked and contributed actively within a diverse team environment.
