G Parker Engineering is looking for an apprentice to join them at their site in Accrington. Established for over 40 years and now in its second generation of family ownership, G Parker Engineering has been closely involved in designing and manufacturing tooling for many of the world's most prestigious aircraft programmes.

Wage: £14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age. National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.

Hours: 7am to 4:45pm Monday to Thursday with a 30-min unpaid meal break. 37-hours per week.

Duration: 3 years 6 months.

Work: Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Design and manufacture detail tooling, jigs and fixtures for the aerospace industry
  • Design and manufacture tooling for both sheet metal and composite airframers
  • Design and manufacture tooling for engine manufacturers
  • Design and manufacture tooling for electric motor assembly and dis-assembly
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Tool care which includes fault diagnosis and repair activities

Where you’ll work: Perseverance Mill, Back Wellington Street, Accrington, BB5 2NW

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

College or training organisation: Burnley College

Your training course: Engineering technician (level 3), equal to A level.

Your training plan: The successful apprentice will be enrolled on the Engineering Technical apprenticeship. Apprenticeship to start in September.

  • GCSE in Maths (grade 4)
  • Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.
