The predicted salary is between 28300 - 35200 £ per year.

We are now accepting applications for this School Counsellor role. The role is primarily to provide one-to-one counselling to pupils, to maintain appropriate records and liaise regularly with the Academy Principal, SLT, SENCO and with other professionals as necessary. We are looking for an empathetic individual who can really get to know and understand our students. You need to have a relevant recognised qualification for this role, to at least diploma level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group counselling for students facing academic, emotional, social, or behavioural challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support students’ holistic development
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment
  • Develop and deliver proactive wellbeing programs and workshops
  • Maintain confidential records and follow ethical guidelines

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • L4 Diploma in School-Based Child Counselling (or equivalent recognised qualification)
  • Educated to A level (or equivalent) with GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Experience and/or further qualifications in working with children, young people, and families

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of current safeguarding practices
  • Knowledge of the UK education system and the challenges facing students
  • Highly organised, with the ability to schedule appointments, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Skilled in identifying patterns from counselling sessions and communicating these effectively
  • Confident in maintaining case records and producing professional reports
  • Able to advocate on behalf of students, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs supported

The role is due to commence September 2025. This is a full-time position. Closing date: 23 June 2025.
