Due to increased demand within Rotherham, TeacherActive is currently recruiting passionate Cover Supervisors to work in our Secondary Schools.
A cover supervisor in a school is responsible for supervising students in the absence of regular teachers. Their key duties include managing the classroom, ensuring students remain on task, and delivering pre-set work. A cover supervisor ensures continuity in student learning by overseeing classes when the regular teacher is unavailable. They play a crucial role in maintaining discipline and supporting the school's teaching staff.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Management: Supervise students during lessons, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Maintain discipline and manage behaviour in accordance with the school's policies.
- Instruction Delivery: Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials provided by absent teachers. Assist students with their work and answer any questions they may have about the tasks.
- Support for Students: Provide support and guidance to students during lessons. Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and promote student engagement.
- Administrative Tasks: Take attendance and report any issues or incidents to senior staff. Collect completed work and pass it on to the relevant teachers.
- Collaboration: Work with other teaching staff and school administration to ensure a smooth running of the school day. Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities as required.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Organisational Skills: Efficiently manage time and classroom activities.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle different subjects and year groups.
