The role is based in our London office. Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Design Manager to join the Egis Transport Solutions Team. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering complex high speed and conventional rail major projects. As a Design Manager, you will be a senior member of the team and will be required to support the Project Director. You will lead and manage engineering teams in within the UK and internationally to deliver track design. We are looking for someone who\βs dedicated, diligent, and driven, and will take this challenge head on, being an important part of a dynamic team with big ambitions. Your responsibilities are likely to include:- Responsible for providing a clear vision and team direction by leading a high-performing team through the effective management, development and empowerment of staff. Manage internal and external resources to produce outputs/deliverables in line with contract requirements and client expectations. Retain full control of project programmes, interrogate supply chain programmes and challenge slippage. Work collaboratively to develop and implement mitigation measures. Manage CEM and CREs (or equivalent) to ensure governance in compliance with HS2 and Network Rail standards. Set and maintain high standards in the production of design deliverables, ensuring information is clear and concise, and risk free. Nurturing a get it right first-time culture within the team. Proactively review design documentation to ensure construction risks are mitigated at the design stage. Manage the engineering team for production of design drawings, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation in accordance with British Standards & Eurocodes, across projects ranging from GRIP 1 to GRIP 5 / RIBA 2 to 5 / ES1-3. Manage the production and coordination of design information in a 3D environment to BIM Standards. Manage coordination with the Principal Contractor external design organisations and external parties Manage CDM and CSM-REA requirements and processes, ensuring risks are mitigated As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). Produce and maintain design trackers. Qualifications Essential: Degree in Engineering Member of an engineering institute and has Engineering Council Professional Registration Extensive experience in Engineering / Technical functions, working in Design Management, with at least strong experience in the rail industry Proven capability in managing design for rail projects, especially in multi-disciplinary environments Excellent understanding of Track Systems from a technical, design, installation, buildability, and maintenance perspective Experience working on complex design and build projects, within a design joint venture Excellent understanding of rail engineering, including HS2 and Network Rail standards/regulations (inc CDM, CSM, RIR) Experience of multi-disciplinary design and coordination, and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stages Experience of working in an engineering production environment Experience of working with 3D models in a BIM environment Desirable: Excellent knowledge of railway infrastructure, systems, and operating requirements Member of the PWI Comprehensive knowledge of British Standards and Regulations, and Rail Standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL Good knowledge of NEC contracts and project communications YOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK Additional Information We are committed to our planet In each project we design, engineer and operate we care deeply about the legacy we\βre leaving behind.
