Position Details:

• Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
• Location: Kirkwall, Orkney

KGS is a modern, vibrant school with around 850 pupils, serving Kirkwall, the East Mainland, Orphir, and the North and South Isles. Approximately 60 students reside in Papdale Halls of Residence during term time.

We seek an enthusiastic and skilled teacher committed to improvement and excellence to lead our Maths department. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective leadership, support young people to achieve their best, and develop high-quality, inclusive learning and teaching environments. The role involves teaching across all stages, with a focus on numeracy development, offering Mathematics at all levels and Applications of Maths at levels 4 and 5.

Requirements include membership of the PVG scheme for work with children and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. Salary is based on Point 5 of the Principal Teacher Scale plus a Distant Islands Allowance, with a generous relocation package offered.
