About the Role:
We are entering an exciting phase of transformation within Nottingham City Council as part of our recent Improvement Plan. Our commitment to overcoming recent challenges and investing in the citys future is stronger than ever. As part of this investment we are actively changing and enhancing our youth services to ensure the best opportunities for children and young people in Nottingham.
As a Youth Development Worker you will be at the heart of this change playing a vital role in the delivery of youth services across a variety of settings from centrebased outreach and detached locations. You will collaborate with colleagues in Childrens Integrated Services as well as voluntary and community organizations to coordinate positive activities that enhance the personal social and educational development of children and young people across the city.
In this citywide role you will oversee volunteers ensure the safe use of delivery sites and make sure the services provided are of high quality and inclusive of the diverse communities in Nottingham. You will also help young people connect with the citys vibrant art and cultural scene while supporting them in developing valuable life skills through initiatives such as the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQAs Units).

About You
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- JNC Degree / Diploma in Youth Work or equivalent level degree in a relevant children service (e.g. education health youth justice)
- Proven experience in providing highquality services for children and young people particularly those at risk of antisocial behaviour and youth violence. For example you might have experience as a youth worker teaching assistant or childrens care home worker.
- Strong knowledge and experience in planning coordinating and leading youth work sessions in various settings some of which may present challenges.
- The ability to advocate for and achieve positive outcomes for young people by influencing and collaborating across partnerships.
- A solid understanding of safeguarding and early help practices for children young people and families.
- A willingness and commitment to work evenings and weekends to meet service needs.
- A passion for engaging young people in skillsbased learning and life skills initiatives.
- The ability to be proactive in researching identifying and developing avenues of alternative funding.
