Job Description
We have a fabulous opportunity for a Commercial & Sales Manager to join our team in driving our current business opportunities to the high standard we expect and bring in new business opportunities. This position will be mobile across our sites and visiting our customers, so can be based at our head office in Longtown, or any of our sites based within Cumbria, Lancashire or South West Scotland.

We are looking for a driven and passionate individual, who wants to be part of a growth and development journey with Wm Armstrong. Someone who can continue with the highest standards our customers expect, as well as bringing in new business/customers. If you have previous transport/haulage experience within a commercial/sales environment this would certainly be advantageous, but is not essential.
In this role you would be responsible for driving and developing new revenue opportunities together with methods and processes to increase business profitability and customer experience; whilst promoting the companys values, beliefs and branding. You would also have responsibility for the Commercial & Sales team, ensuring the team provide exceptional customer support experience, developing an inspired and future thinking team to support the growth of the group.
Responsibilities

Managing customer relations and existing business

Nurturing existing customer accounts to uncover incremental volume

Review and develop current and new customers and revenue opportunities including contract reviews.

Profiling and developing an in-depth knowledge of the customers and the profit opportunities

Enable best practices, trends and sustainable objectives that will help shape future strategies

Working closely with the departments and team to develop new launches to a customer brief or specification

Developing new business in line with companys strategic growth plan

Working together with relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent bids
-
Establishing sales targets and ensuring that a company meets these

Provide Performance Reports against agreed targets to the Director and attend regular review meetings.

Achieve agreed sales targets, with desire to exceed these through inspired approaches.

Manage and lead the commercial and sales team effectively

Maintain effective communication, consultation and information between the Commercial and Sales Team and other departments.
Requirements

Previous experience within a sales/business development environment essential
-
Knowledge and understanding of contractual requirements essential.

Excellent working knowledge of the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector preferred.

Previous experience in an operational context advantageous.

Previous experience within a warehousing context advantageous.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision.

Ability to work under pressure, both individually and as part of a team.

Ability to negotiate effectively and to secure co-operation from external and internal partners.

The position is predominately a Monday Friday role, there will be requirements for weekend/evening working, with expectations to manage own time effectively.
