Secondary Teaching Assistant

We are looking to appoint a supportive and motivated Teaching Assistant to work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting young people’s learning, personal development, and wellbeing within a friendly and inclusive school environment. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

• Support students in the classroom, helping them to access learning and make progress.

• Work one-to-one or with small groups of pupils, including those with special educational needs (SEND), English as an Additional Language (EAL), or low prior attainment.

• Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.

• Provide feedback to students and assist in monitoring their progress.

• Help to manage student behaviour and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.

• Contribute to the preparation and organisation of teaching resources.

• Support the supervision of pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, or on school trips as required.

• Promote inclusion and encourage all pupils to participate in school life fully.

• Liaise with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents where appropriate.

• Follow school safeguarding procedures and attend relevant training.

Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:

• Have experience working with secondary-aged students in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential).

• Be caring, patient, and committed to supporting young people.

• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills as a Secondary Teaching Assistant.

• Be able to work well as part of a team and use their initiative when required.

• Have good literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 or equivalent).

• Be flexible, reliable, and willing to learn.

• Have a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
