Job overview You will be working in a team of Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists as an important and highly valued member of the Urology Multidisciplinary Cancer Team. The role involves managing and maintaining a caseload of urology cancer patients and undertaking nurse-led clinics: face to face, telephone and follow-up of patients to ensure a seamless service. A responsibility of the role will be to provide specialist information, support, advice and education to the patient and their family (in-patients and out-patients) from diagnosis and throughout the whole cancer pathway on treatment/management of their urological cancer. This job offers a fantastic opportunity for a nurse wishing to develop in a specialist role delivering high quality care and support to people with a urological cancer and their families. Alongside the clinical responsibilities of the role the post holder will be expected to support the ongoing management of the team, service provision and development. This is a key role in developing and extending the boundaries of the specialist nursing service through nurse led clinics, working both as an autonomous practitioner within the field of Urology cancer . Main duties of the job · This job requires the post holder to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with complex and highly sensitive information with patients, relatives and colleagues. The individual will be delivering nurse led clinics and supporting more junior staff with clinical queries. Therefore it is important for the individual to have knowledge of the care and management of patients with cancers including with reference to; acute presentation of malignancy, complications of the disease process and progression of disease, patient pathways and current approaches to patient follow up.
