Principle Design Engineer needed to join an established and growing engineering company specializing in the design and build of special purpose equipment for highly regulated industries, based just outside Southampton. The successful Principle Design Engineer will have experience with hand calculations and/or FEA techniques and will have worked within highly regulated industries such as defence, subsea, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, or nuclear. All candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.

The company offers bespoke design solutions from concept to assembly and testing, with great career development opportunities and a dynamic team environment. A generous relocation package is available for those moving to the area.

The Package:

  • Salary – £49,000-£67,000
  • 37 hours a week, Mon-Fri 08:30-17:00, Fri 08:30-16:30
  • Private healthcare
  • Pension with 6% company contribution
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Death in service benefit (4x annual salary)

Prime Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Production of engineering concepts and technical solutions
  • Design and preparation of engineering documents (drawings, calculations, reports) within deadlines
  • Management of small and medium-sized projects, or team collaboration on larger projects
  • Involvement in all aspects of the design process, including drafting and testing

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in engineering calculations (hand calcs, MathCAD, Ansys, FEA)
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in defence, nuclear, medical, pharmaceutical, subsea, oil & gas, or similar industries
  • Must have or be eligible for SC clearance
