The main duties of the role will be as follows:
- The sale, purchase and lease of land or property.
- Development, infrastructure and planning projects.
- Property finance and investment.
- Leasehold management.
- Landlord and tenant disputes.
- The drafting, reviewing and negotiation of contracts.
- Mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and disposals.
Experience & Background
Ideally, we are looking for a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in corporate and commercial work, but applications will be considered from those with alternative relevant qualifications or who can demonstrate equivalent skills and experience. We’re looking for somebody with excellent knowledge of:
- Legal experience which has mostly been gained on non-contentious business transactions and issues.
- Business drivers affecting, and legal, regulatory and business risks of owner-managed businesses.
- Corporate transactional work.
- General commercial law.
You should also have:
- An ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team while taking responsibility for their own work.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Pleasant and positive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients.
- An ability to provide clear and pragmatic advice to, and deal confidently with, individuals at all levels.
- Ability to evaluate a situation in the face of time constraints and react appropriately.
- Good time management, file organisation and personal organisation.
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team.
Remuneration

Responsibilities
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and hard-working private client legal secretary to work from our Clitheroe office. The prime role of the legal secretary is to provide direct support to his/her principal to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency. This will include but will not be limited to the key responsibilities given below. The legal secretary is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.
- Prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing.
- Administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained in the office manual.
- Prepare mail and enclosures for dispatch.
- Arrange for all copying to be done, in person if the office assistant is not available to undertake the task.
- Make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her principal.
- Provide support to other secretaries as required.
- Provide guidance to junior and temporary secretaries when required to do so.
- Attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care.
- Undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.
