What sort of work?

Right now, our highly regarded Real Estate group is looking for a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) to join our Transactional Real Estate (TRE) team. This role will have a real focus on facilitating effective knowledge sharing to enable the team to remain at the forefront of law and practice. The work will include:

  • Responsibility for the strategic development of Learning & Development within TRE based on needs assessment and to attract and retain high calibre people.
  • Facilitating the provision of a Learning & Development programme and schedule for TRE which encompasses black letter law training, webinars, knowledge sharing sessions and development sessions.
  • Providing support to TRE lawyers and assisting with queries that arise on transactions.
  • Providing and maintaining quality documentation and precedents for use by lawyers in TRE.
  • Encourage and facilitate production of articles by lawyers.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and will thrive in our culture. The role could be based in our Exeter office or our Bristol office with travel to the Exeter office ideally 1-day a week. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a PSL at a Top 100 firm and up to 5 years PQE as a commercial real estate lawyer previously.
  • We will consider lawyers with 5 years PQE + in commercial real estate at a Top 100 firm who can demonstrate the skills required for the role and a clear affinity with knowledge management and learning and development.
  • Excellent legal research skills with experience of legal databases (LexisLibrary, Practical Law, Westlaw).
  • Competent with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.) and using data management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team and to effectively communicate with all levels across the Firm.
  • Excellent drafting and technical skills.
  • Must be articulate in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate grammar, style and language for the recipient.
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible and successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions.
  • Commercially aware and client focused.
