The main purpose of the role is to ensure a smooth transition when loading and unloading trailers, and to maintain safety and operational efficiency at all times.
Responsibilities include:
- Observe and adhere to company rules, site procedures, and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene.
- Manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
- Liaise with colleagues and ensure completion of shift reports.
- Conduct daily checks, report defects or damages immediately, and complete related documentation.
- Carry out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to operations staff.
- Complete trailer checklists and report to the operations desk.
- Perform shunting duties, including relevant maintenance and safety checks.
- Coordinate with warehouse control and goods-in staff for smooth loading and unloading.
- Complete vehicle downloads according to company policy.
- Monitor services and MOTs, liaising with the Transport Office and service vendors.
- Assist with fuel delivery and manual fuel dips.
- Coordinate with the Transport Office regarding special promotions and livery schedules.
- Manage traffic flow in and out of the yard.
- Collaborate with transport, warehouse control, goods-in colleagues, and external vendors as needed.
