We are looking for a motivated and high-calibre Department Safety Leader to join us at our London (West Thurrock) Site. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Department Safety Ownership: You will own and lead the safety & environmental program for your department, engaging with senior leaders on site to deliver a multi-year improvement program. This includes ensuring HSE standards are in place, improved and maintained, ensuring legal requirements are met.
- Incident Tracking, Reporting and Investigation: You will track the Behaviour Observation schedule for your area, highlighting unsafe behaviours and analysing the data (Power BI) to make recommendations to the Operational Leadership team to implement. You will partner to conduct required investigations in relation to safety and lost time accidents.
- Train and Communicate on Safety: You will train and qualify new starters, Safety Functional Leaders and own your department's safety induction process. You will maintain area safety documents, team safety communications, and ensure audit and training materials are updated.
- Inspections and Risk Assessing: You will manage the safety inspection program for your area, updating the inspections as required, and reporting any outages. Participate in risk assessments for your area, updating and reviewing as required in department. Complete and review regularly all High-Risk tasks, ensuring full assessment and clear mitigation steps are put in place.
- System ownership: You will own key department and site systems based on the needs of the business to deliver cross department improvements and capability building in line with our corporate safety program.
Please note this is a day-based, rather than a shift-based role; you’ll generally work 40 hours per week.

Job Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certification is required, as you will lead the legal safety compliance for the department, as well as implementing company safety requirements and policies.
- Very good transferable people skills.
- A proven record of delivering outstanding safety improvements and exceeding targets set.
- A clear understanding of how to execute projects.
- Competent in full Microsoft package with analytical skills, assessing large amounts of data to visual trends and can use Power BI functions.
