The predicted salary is between 54000 - 72000 £ per year.

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £62,000 - £80,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).

Let us introduce the role: AWE's Asset Engineering Group Leader is now recruiting for a Principal Engineering Manager to strategically and tactically lead the management, maintenance and engineering requirements for Machine tools at AWE.

What will you be responsible & accountable for?

  • Developing the processes, procedures, work instructions and relevant tools for their discipline.
  • Line and/or Task management of the Engineering and Maintenance team.
  • Assuring the processes as part of the Licence condition requirements as the Senior figure of the discipline community.
  • Supporting delivery of the Engineering and Maintenance through the provision of subject matter expertise.
  • Coaching and mentoring of junior members of your community.
  • Defining and delivering continuous improvement activity.
  • Supporting in Competency Assessment and development of the Learning & Development framework.
  • Monitoring and analysing schedule performance, contribution to the development of accurate schedule narrative for reporting purposes.
  • Monitoring risks and opportunities, profile impacts and mitigations.
  • Ensuring the stakeholder management and integration of the Machine Tools into AWE is compliant, safe and correctly maintained.
  • Influencing and guiding key stakeholders on potential issues arising from conflicts or dependencies across schedules/projects.
  • Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and adhere to the companies' expected values and behaviours.

We'd love to hear from individuals with a strong machine tools background who are natural problem solvers and able to communicate effectively at all levels. Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Degree in STEM discipline, equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previously held a people management role.
  • Experience of successfully managing projects across teams.
  • Experience of successfully managing a high performing and motivated team.
  • Proven track record of delivery, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive risk management & control skills.

  • You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE.
  • The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
