This 19-month long program is an exciting opportunity to join Teneo as part of our first Strategy & Communications apprenticeship program. The program is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in public relations. For 14 months, you will partake in on and off the job training, with off the job training being learning activities that are completed away from your normal work duties and responsibilities to gain theoretical knowledge and skills. Following your period of training, you will undergo an End Point Assessment required to complete the apprenticeship, which should take a maximum of 5 months to complete, and entails:

  • Written project report with presentation and questioning
  • Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

You will be part of Teneo’s Strategic Sports Advisory team, which advises sports organisations, their investors and their partners on managing existential reputational issues. Based in London, the team works in close collaboration with Teneo’s international offices to advise some of the world’s foremost organisations. The work we do spans from strategic media relations, narrative development, primary audience research and campaign development, to mergers and acquisitions and crisis & issues management.

The programme includes blended learning with access to virtual classroom sessions, webinars, telephone, and video conferencing. Through the apprenticeship, you’ll gain an understanding of:

  • The business of sport landscape – and the role reputation plays in driving commercial value in sport
  • Using digital PR tools and tactics to enhance brand engagement and engage with target audiences
  • How to create and implement effective communication plans, manage crises, and maintain consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Professional skills in writing, editing, and creating multimedia content that resonates with audiences and supports PR campaigns.
  • Strategies for distributing content across multiple channels, optimizing for different platforms, and tracking performance.
  • Insights into the PR industry's history, current trends, and future directions, and the role of PR in shaping public perception and managing brand reputation.
  • Principles of monitoring and responding to public sentiment, managing crises, and building a positive brand image.
  • Skills in creating and executing PR strategies that align with business objectives, identifying key messages, and targeting appropriate audiences.
  • Skills in analyzing the effectiveness of content and making data-driven decisions to improve future efforts.
  • Building effective relationships, growing your network and interpersonal communications.

The opportunity for you: You will gain exposure to a wide range of clients, access to a variety of experts within the business and the chance to learn the core skills needed to build a foundational understanding regarding a fulfilling career in strategic communications consultancy. Our structure allows you to gain exposure to other disciplines, including media relations, financial communications, government affairs and strategy and research – helping you develop the knowledge needed to deliver for clients in a truly integrated way.

Applicants must have at least a grade 9 - 4 in English Language / Literature GCSE and minimum grade C at A-Level / equivalent (in any subject). Unfortunately, we cannot accept those who have studied a degree in PR, Communications, Journalism, or Advertising.
