The role of a Police Detective can be demanding, but it is also highly rewarding. Every day presents new challenges and varied situations, ensuring public order is maintained at all times.
You will be responsible for protecting lives and property, as well as preventing and detecting crime. Working as part of a close team, you’ll serve and protect the diverse communities and businesses of Kent.
Join #TeamKent as a police officer and receive a starting salary of £32,907 (including a £3,000 South East allowance).
To join our Investigate First Police Constable Entry Programme (IF PCEP), you must meet these eligibility criteria:
- Be over 18 (you can apply at 17 and start when you turn 18) – there is no upper age limit
- Be a British citizen, an EC/EEA national, a Commonwealth citizen, or a foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the UK. You must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years (unless serving with UK armed forces)
- Be in good health, including fitness and eyesight
- Have no criminal record, although some offences may be considered, which will be reviewed upon application
- Have obtained a Level 3 qualification or demonstrate relevant experience or training equivalent to Level 3
You are also eligible if you meet one of these criteria:
- You are a Kent Police staff member, PCSO, or special constable who has passed probation
- You have at least 3 years’ service with the armed forces and an exemplary discharge reference
Our intake sizes are set for each entry route. If oversubscribed, we may need to adjust your entry route to secure your joining date. We will contact you if this occurs.
All positions require vetting and security clearance. During recruitment, you will be asked to complete vetting information forms.
