The CQC awarded us excellent for our service in 2017. The team consists of Specialist Palliative Consultants, Specialist Palliative Care Nurses for the Acute and Community, End of Life Care Facilitators, Urgent Response Team, Day Hospice and Macmillan Occupational Therapists. The service operates 24/7 providing care to patients in hospital and community in Sandwell and West Birmingham. Job overview We currently have a vacancy available for a Palliative Care Nurse. You must be a registered nurse with the appropriate qualifications and experience. The applicant for this post will be responsible for coordinating a caseload of patients and staff on a shift, to ensure that all calls from palliative and end of life care patients are responded to in a timely manner. The post includes rotation between the Palliative Care Hub and Urgent Response Team and offers development opportunities. You will need to have a good clinical knowledge around end of life care, including symptom control and community services. The shift pattern involves rotation between day and nights, 12 hour shifts. Main duties of the job Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for full details of what this role entails Person specification Qualifications 1st Level Registered General Nurse (adults) Qualification in palliative / end of life care or relevant experience Evidence of continued professional development Holds a teaching /assessing qualification Qualified Nurse Prescriber Project management Advanced Communication Experience Experience of working within a community team or acute ward.
