Are you a Process Engineer with a passion for process improvement and production analysis? We’re working with a well-established manufacturing business in Colchester that produces large fabricated and electromechanical components used in national infrastructure projects.

As part of their ongoing Continuous Improvement programme, they are looking for a Process Engineer to support a six-month cycle time and efficiency study across multiple production departments. This is a hands-on analytical role focusing on observation and recommendation, not implementation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Conduct time and motion studies across machine and assembly operations
  • Compare system cycle times to demonstrated times on the shop floor
  • Break down processes into VA (Value Add), NVA (Non-Value Add), and NNVA (Necessary Non-Value Add) categories
  • Identify inefficiencies in fabrication and assembly workflows
  • Produce clear reports and practical recommendations to support CI initiatives
  • Work closely with the CI team while reporting into the CI Lead
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Analyst, or similar
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes such as laser cutting, press braking, and welding
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and cycle time analysis
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills
  • Confident communicator with strong written reporting ability
