Leeds Beckett University offers an exciting opportunity to lead a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project aimed at transforming learning, decision-making, and factory-floor operations within Abraham Moon & Sons Ltd, a Leeds-based premium textile manufacturer with a 188-year heritage.
This role involves working with a multidisciplinary academic team from Leeds Beckett University to:
- Preserve unique skills and process knowledge by fostering knowledge-sharing among a traditionally skilled workforce.
- Develop an innovative digital platform for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve processes and manufacturing resilience.
- Facilitate a move towards a multi-skilled, agile workforce through succession planning and learning pathways.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and project management skills, a curious mindset, and the ability to understand and document manufacturing processes accurately. Balancing technical and people-centric approaches will be key to the project's success. The role requires developing and embedding strategies for learning, continuous improvement, and behavioral change within Moon. You will be based full-time at the company premises and integrated into the Moon team.
This KTP scheme offers significant career development opportunities, including a £5,000 professional development budget, the potential for a permanent role, and the possibility to pursue a fully funded higher degree (MRes, MPhil, or PhD).
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or higher) in Management Science, Business Analysis, Project Management, Engineering Management, or Process Engineering.
- Prior experience in a process or manufacturing environment, with evidence of designing or delivering learning and development solutions.
- Interest in UK manufacturing heritage, broad IT skills, and a creative mindset are desirable.
- Strong project management capabilities and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to multiple stakeholders.
