A Brief Overview: Responsible for operating radiologic equipment including c-arms and ERCP equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare patients and adjust equipment for taking exposure.
- Position patients for procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians to obtain optimal images.
- Determine proper voltage and current, desired exposure time, and practice ALARA.
- Adjust lead shields to protect unaffected body parts from radiation exposure.
- Select DR plate and insert into holder or improvise setup.
- Position equipment at proper distance and angles.
- Activate machinery safely.
- Arrange immobilization devices to ensure precise positioning and patient comfort.
- Operate c-arm equipment to provide quality images for surgeons.
- Coordinate surgery schedules to ensure excellent radiology service for surgeons.
- Perform clerical duties related to PACS and Teleradiology.
- Take x-ray images in other hospital areas with portable equipment.
- Transport equipment safely and observe sterile techniques.
- Assist with staff and student training and orientation.
- Mentor and educate students in Radiological Technology.
- Produce high-quality digital images suitable for radiologist interpretation.
- Maintain records for the Radiology Department, Quality Assurance, accreditation, OSHA, or legal requirements.
Essential Qualifications: Ability to work the specified hours, visual acuity for position duties, effective communication, hearing, and speech recognition. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience: Associate's degree or certification from an accredited School of Radiology. Radiography (R) - ARRT certification within 60 days.
Preferred Experience: 1-3 years related experience in surgery.
