Northwestern Counseling & Support Services, Inc. (NCSS) is seeking compassionate, motivated, and flexible candidates to become Behavior Interventionists and make a difference in the lives of others. Behavior Interventionists provide support to adults with intellectual disabilities or Autism within our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participating as part of a team to initiate activities that support skill building based on a client's Individual Support Agreement (Treatment Plan).
- Navigating maladaptive behaviors and providing needed behavioral support according to clients' individualized Behavior Support Plans.
- Assessing and adjusting the environment to ensure proper support and supervision while utilizing sound judgment and a calm demeanor.
- Developing positive and therapeutic working relationships.
- Supporting individuals with communication needs.
- Providing needed personal and/or medical care.
- Documenting progress on Individuals Support Agreement goals.
The ideal candidates will be strong team players, exhibit patience, and have the ability to calmly and empathetically validate individuals during challenging situations. Therapeutic support experience is preferred; however, we are willing and able to train someone who is ready to support adults with intense behavioral needs. Reliable transportation is required.
