Our client is a global manufacturer of Medical Devices products. There is currently an opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join the business as a Global Category Manager, Travel Services.
This position is responsible for the expenditure, strategic plan and leadership of all key initiatives within the Travel Services Category. Specifically, the Global Category Manager has responsibility for all stakeholder and supplier engagement activities associated with Travel Services, developing category strategy and establishing and managing key stakeholder relationships, leading proactive sourcing projects, influencing specification definition & demand management, as well as managing supplier performance and innovation activities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing Procurement Category input into the Global Category Lead in order to inform the functional objective setting process.
- Accountable for the delivery of Travel Services Category targets following engagement in the target setting process.
- Responsible for the collection of suppliers, supply market, category and internal business data and information for the Travel Services Category.
- Responsible for developing the Global Category Strategy for Travel Services, including relevant stakeholder approval.
- Accountable for identifying key supplier risks within the Travel Services Category and agreeing mitigating activities with the relevant business stakeholders.
- Accountable for ensuring that any supplier performance risks and issues are resolved on a timely basis.
- Responsible for the development and execution of projects based on the Travel Services Category strategy and business planning activities to feed into the Annual Procurement Category Plan.
- Responsible for establishing overall Travel Services Category segmentation and identification of key supplier relationships.
- Responsible for the creation, application, completion and review of major contracts for the Travel Services Category.
- Accountable for ensuring negotiated contracts are clearly communicated to business stakeholders for the Travel Services Category, and that they are consistently applied.
Education / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field.
- Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualifications.
- 5+ years of experience in a Procurement environment with direct experience within Travel related spend areas. Ideally managing £50mil+ spend in this category.
- Only candidates with demonstrated experience on their CV connected to Travel related spend will be considered.
