Here at Stocks Veterinary Centre, we have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join us on a permanent basis. This role offers a well-balanced caseload between surgery and medicine. However, we would love to hear from a candidate that has a surgical bias, as we could offer the caseload and support for a certificate in this area. The role would be split between both of our practices.

Is career development something that’s important to you? If so, we’d like to hear from you. We can potentially offer you the chance to progress into a more senior clinical role in the future. We’re able to offer a relocation allowance of up to £5000 for candidates that require it.

Work life balance that works for you: We are proud to say our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale on your work life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance, whether you are looking for a full time or part time role we are sure we can find the right rota pattern for you. A typical full time role would involve working 4 days per week, over 40 hours. Along with our shared 1:3 Saturday morning rota (08:30 - 12:30). There’s no out of hours or on call required for this role.

About us: We are a first opinion small animal practice based in Worcestershire, with our main site in Upton Upon Severn and a smaller, fully equipped branch in Lower Wick, Worcester. Our Upton Upon Severn site is situated in an old GP surgery, with ample parking and a large reception with separate dog and cat waiting areas. There are two consulting rooms and a nurse clinic room. There are also separate dog, cat, and isolation kennels. All clinical areas have piped oxygen, with dedicated prep, theatre, and diagnostic rooms. We have a wide range of modern diagnostic equipment, including an inhouse lab, digital x-ray (including dental), laparoscopy, endoscopy, and ultrasound. Our Lower Wick site has a dedicated theatre and separate prep room with an inhouse lab. Both sites are within easy reach of the M5 and M50 motorways, with good links to Birmingham airport, the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds.

Join a fantastic team: Our team of six vets has over 85 years of experience between them. Half of our vet team have been with us for ten years or longer. We strive very hard to look after our staff; we focus on maintaining a very good work life balance and a positive working environment. Two of our vets hold certificates in medicine and feline practice. We actively support and fund the pursuit of certificates and there is ample case variety to get casebooks done. We have seven fully qualified nurses, one ANA and 8 support staff. We are also a nurse training practice and many of our students go on to stay with us as RVNs.

Here’s what the team have to say about Stocks: "Working with the team at The Stocks has been a fantastic experience. For me, the roller coaster ride of going from locum vet to partner/owner vet to CD and back to vet has been challenging, but deeply rewarding! Now there’s the chance for a new driven vet to pick it all up and run further with it- you will have the opportunity to go as far as you want or are capable of -it’s up to you. Whether you want to push your surgical skills, get involved in training the team, help run the practice or whatever, you will be supported by our amazing team. You will get out of it as much and more as you are prepared to put in" - Jo Hammett.
