About the Role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Setting Out Engineer to join our expanding Major Projects team working on key infrastructure schemes across the Milton Keynes highways network. Whether you’re an ambitious graduate looking to take the next step, or an experienced engineer seeking a new challenge, this is a chance to join a high-performing team delivering projects that shape communities.
In this role, you’ll be pivotal in ensuring the accurate setting out of works, helping to deliver schemes safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with Site Agents and Supervisors, support quality assurance processes, and contribute to maintaining technical records that keep projects compliant and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate setting out for highways construction works (e.g. earthworks, drainage, kerbing, surfacing, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with design drawings and specifications
- Work collaboratively with site teams to solve on-site engineering challenges
- Maintain and manage records of as-built information and surveys
- Assist with compiling QA documentation, permits, and site reports
- Use modern surveying equipment and software to support project delivery
- Champion safety, quality, and environmental standards on site
- Support graduate development or contribute to mentoring others (if experienced)
What We’re Looking For
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Previous setting out experience (placement or full-time)
- Strong understanding of technical drawings and surveying tools (e.g. GPS, Total Station)
- Willingness to learn and grow in a supportive team environment
- SMSTS / SSSTS is beneficial but not essential
- Full UK Driving Licence
