Exciting opportunity for a nursery chef! Are you looking for the next step or currently hold a Level 2 Diploma in professional cookery (or equivalent)? Then this might be the role for you. Integra Education is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Nursery Chef for our client based in Leigh. This role is 35 hours per week (8:30 am to 4:30 pm), Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch.
What the role entails:
- Plan seasonal menus and oversee kitchen operations, equipment, food, and service preparation.
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager to ensure high standards of service that meet the needs of children.
- Monitor and review the quality of food and service, ensuring good quality products and timely, within-budget service.
- Train, develop, manage, and motivate the catering team to ensure efficiency.
- Organise and supervise the nursery kitchen in accordance with statutory regulations, including Safer Food, Better Business Guidance.
- Visit sister nursery settings in Leigh and Wigan monthly to ensure standardisation of hygiene, stock control, paperwork, and quality.
- Develop and oversee allergy control processes, including documentation to prevent cross-contamination.
- Support wider catering teams within the charity to ensure smooth, high-quality service for families and children.
The ideal candidate will have:
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery (or equivalent) is essential.
- Food Safety Level 3 is desirable.
- Understanding and experience of environmental health food hygiene inspections.
- Knowledge of Safer Food, Better Business Guidance.
- Ability to manage budgets and costs.
- Previous experience in similar settings, with understanding of catering for small children.
