Key Objective / Purpose of Job:
Primary purpose of the role is to manage subsea cable network infrastructure & business development activities from idea through to completion for Tata Communications.
Based in a Tata Comms office in London, UK; Dubai, UAE or Mumbai, India working for Asst. Vice President, International Network Development & Strategy, the role requires a complex mix of financial acumen, project & subsea cable network engineering, negotiation & communication skills. It will involve working with senior members of the entire Tata Communications team, as well as Tata Communications partners, suppliers and customers.
Major Activities:
Manage major fibre & subsea cable network infrastructure business development activities from concept to completion to support Tata Communications objectives for building a digital fabric to enable Powering Hyperconnected Ecosystems.
Understand the Europe – Middle East – India markets and internal needs for subsea cable network infrastructure on international routes as directed
Work with TCL partners (suppliers, customers) to understand their capabilities and potential requirements
Understand TCL’s future needs from a strategic level, whilst proposing solutions that are sound in detail and include both tactical and strategic solutions and opportunities
Support building technically and financially sound business cases for international and regional subsea cable network infrastructure investments based upon personal knowledge and experience alongside information based upon independent market data, TCL partners, and key stakeholders.
Maintain knowledge of key regional markets and work with other internal users and sources of market data to ensure our understanding of the subsea cable network infrastructure and market is relevant and accurate.
Maintain relationships with key partners and customers of TCL, and demonstrate the ability to build new relationships at an appropriate pace and management level.
Essential Qualifications:
Ideally degree educated or equivalent with at least fifteen years of experience working within the international subsea cable network infrastructure industry.
Requisite Skills:
Sound knowledge and historical relationships in the Europe – Middle East – Indian international subsea cable network infrastructure markets
Technical
Knowledge of optical and submarine cable networking.
Functional
Extremely strong written and verbal communications skills, in English and ideally with a second language from one of the above regions
Strong spreadsheet, business and financial modelling skills based upon industry recognized cashflow & accounting principles
Appropriate attention to detail
An understanding of the legal fundamentals used in commercial contracts

Work Experience
Ideal candidates will have at least 15 years experience in international subsea cable network industry with recent work in strategic decision making environments.
Comfortable in rapidly changing environments and with incomplete information.
Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, including weekends
Willingness to work outside of ‘normal working hours’ when necessary to accommodate other times zones and/or different working days.
History of making consistently sound judgment calls based upon incomplete information
Sensitive to cross cultural, inter-personal & regional issues
Comfortable with working at both the detail and the big picture levels
Strong financial and presentation skills
History of enabling and managing change
Able to work alone and on all required work items regardless of topic or significance.
