Our client has a fantastic opportunity for an Adobe Experience Manager / AEM Developer to join the documentation team with flexible working. Although our client is based just South of London, the role can be fully remote or even offshore.

Your goal will be to work with, and to increase the capability of, the team in building customer driven solutions for creating, managing and delivering technical documentation for our blue-chip customers, primarily utilizing the AEM Sites, Assets and Guides platform. The role offers the ability to work with varied technologies to provide customized and integrated solutions for component content management and publishing.

The ideal candidate will be a trained Adobe AEM Developer, with experience in design & developing complex components as per the client's requirement integrating different back-end systems. Experience and understanding of AEM building blocks including templates, components, dialogs, widgets etc., along with other AEM development and deployment processes.

Specifically, you can expect to:

  • Solve technical challenges related to XML content
  • Familiarize yourself with Adobe’s DITA CCMS (Adobe Experience Manager Guides), and the way the client/server architecture can be customized and enhanced.
  • Support and further enhance existing Mekon-developed AEM integrations with third-party tools e.g., PoolParty, the semantic taxonomy management tool.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Oxygen XML editing environment and the varied and appropriate methods for customization using the Java based APIs.
  • Become familiar with the DITA Open Toolkit (an XSLT-based publishing tool).

In achieving these objectives, you will already have experience or will learn the following:

  • Good understanding of overall AEM product and can customize the AEM back end functionalities as per client requirements by creating servlets, schedulers and custom workflows.
  • Good hold on Apache Sling API and Node API.
  • AEM Backend development experience - Servlets, OSGi services, Schedulers, Listeners and workflows.
  • Front end integration with experience - Jquery, HTML5.
  • Experience in REST API integration with AEM.
  • Good experience in Java programming.

  • Demonstrate a strong affinity with Java code development and a familiarity with DOM processing.
  • Be willing to drive your knowledge acquisition independently, and to work with the team to apply that knowledge to client solutions.
