Pay: $18.50 with WEEKLY paychecks
Cumberland Division: Must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license (regular DL at minimum at time of hire). After hire: MUST BE WILLING TO OBTAIN Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "C" with Passenger Endorsement through our Paid training program.

Job Summary (Role in organization): The position is critical in assisting the Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority in meeting our mission of mobility. The impact of public transportation runs much deeper than a trip from point A to point B. We are the means for which people have access to experiences that alter their lives in meaningful ways. This position is responsible for operating a van/bus to transport passengers in a safe and courteous manner according to the daily manifest. The driver is responsible for driving defensively and reacting to emergency situations to ensure the safety of the passengers and the safety of the general public. Work includes completion of vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, assisting passengers as required including wheelchair securements, receiving and accounting for fares, radio communications, following emergency procedures, and other activities as assigned by the Site Manager/Site Manager II. The operator is responsible for meeting all requirements for attendance, policy and safety emergency response situations. Available for forms of transportation systems as needed (if applicable to that division). In addition, this position is also responsible for performing general servicing of vehicles that include general and detail cleaning, shuttling, and fueling vehicles in accordance with the Maintenance Plan and other Authority procedures.
Key/Reporting Relationship/Direct Reports: This position reports to the Site Manager/Operations Supervisor. This position receives training, general supervision and works according to standards.

- Knowledge of safe driving practices and demonstrated ability to operate and drive transit vehicles in a safe manner.
- Ability to understand and adhere to Authority rules, procedures, directions, funding guidelines, DOT regulations and PA traffic regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation with the ability to deal courteously, sensitively, and effectively with the public.
- Adherence to regulations; harassment/discrimination policy/guidelines.
- Ability to operate communication and other designated automated equipment.
- Ability to manage one's own time and to follow a schedule to meet deadlines.
- Ability to actively listen, communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions that are given in English.
- Ability to complete records.
- Ability to work with diverse customers.
Must meet hiring qualifications including but not limited to, minimum of 21 years of age with additional criteria, acceptable driving record and background verification in accordance with SRTA standards.
Certificates and Licenses Required: Cumberland Division: Must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license (regular DL at minimum at time of hire) that is not under suspension or revocation, and possess current automobile insurance coverage. After hire: MUST BE WILLING TO OBTAIN Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "C" with Passenger Endorsement through our Paid training program. Must possess a valid DOT medical card. (Will send for such if given a contingent offer.) This is a safety sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing.
