Required Responsibilities
- Act as a safety partner by intervening when unsafe acts are practiced.
- Promote and demonstrate safe behaviour and practices.
- Assist Site and QSE management in determining RCAs and corrective actions for investigations.
- Complete all safety training assigned.
- Act as a resource for junior technicians when questions arise.
- Utilize all PPE as required by Work Instructions and QSE Manual.
- Provide input regarding any discrepancies found in Work Instructions or PPE sheets.
- Support continuous improvement activities, including the development of best practices.
- Build and maintain effective internal partnerships.
- Refer complex issues or customer inquiries to higher-level technical staff or management, always demonstrating good customer focus to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
- Fully navigate and input all required data through MyTime, MyTask, and different cost allocations (e.g., SO's).
- Access and use online tools (e.g., Toolkit, SAP, VOB, VGA, VIS, VTM).
- Understand how dashboard metrics impact the site (alarms, warnings, fleet, service orders, labour efficiency, etc.).
- Navigate and utilize Insite Toolbox.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and mentorship.
- Follow Work Instructions and propose adjustments or improvements as needed (e.g., PTP).
- Manage TSL and CIR entry and follow-up.
- Support specialty jobs (e.g., crane work, CIM projects).
- Utilize available tools for growth and learning, supporting team development.
- Promote a positive team environment across departments.
- Assist teammates in achieving operational goals and mentor lower-level staff.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of technical wind industry experience OR in the absence of wind experience, at least three (3) years of experience in hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, or composite skills.
- Alternatively, 2 years of wind experience plus a Wind Technician program certificate.
- Internal candidate training/certificate requirements: LOTO II, D-Service, TBC Core 100 & 200, and Turbine specific 100 & 200.
- External candidates must complete required training within 6 months.
- Intermediate knowledge of industrial safety practices (e.g., Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out).
- Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and related tooling.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to obtain a passport is preferred.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
- Ability to interpret basic drawings and schematics.
- Willingness to embrace diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, aligning with Vestas' core values.
Competencies Required
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 125 meters (400 feet).
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend regularly.
- Handle repetitive manual tasks with hand tools and turbine parts.
- Work in demanding physical and weather conditions.
- Work remotely in turbines with limited supervision.
- Maintain total weight at or below 300 lbs while wearing PPE.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Reliable attendance.
- Valid Driver's License.
